The Case for Rating Addictiveness in Games

Games are not inherently addictive, but those who make money from games often leverage addictive mechanics to maximize profits. Some even use it as a selling point.

As the predatory tactics of mobile games make their way into the loot boxes of AAA titles, the mainstream audience has taken renewed interest in the addictiveness of video games.

If we as gamers and developers do not make an effort to educate the public, the public will paint the whole industry with the same brush.
